Doswell E. Brooks
Shedding light on Doswell E. Brooks, who helped start the first high school for black students in Upper Marlboro.
He pursued higher education and became one of the few African Americans of his time to achieve advanced educational qualifications, earning degrees from several institutions, including a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University.
A significant contribution of his was obtaining the first school bus for black students in Prince George's County in 1934.
He was appointment as the Supervisor of Colored Schools in Prince George's County in 1920. In this role, he oversaw the educational programs for African American students and worked tirelessly to improve the quality of education they received.
